Amazon has already gone in with big Black Friday deals on the latest and greatest Apple Watch models – and these Watch SE prices are pretty tempting

It’s selling the 40mm Apple Watch SE for $229 (down from $279) and the 44mm for $259.99 (down from $309.99).

In our reviews of the latest devices we picked the Apple Watch SE as the easiest to recommend. You don’t get ECG and SpO2, but we feel the Apple Watch suits more people, especially at this price.

Apple Watch Series 6 (40/44mm)

If you want those big health features, the Series 6 discount on Amazon will be of serious interest.

That will bag you a 40mm for $349.99 (save $50) and a 44mm for $409.99 (save $20).

Those are prices on an aluminum case in all colors, including the brand new blue, and (PRODUCT) RED. Space Gray and silver are also available.

Of course, you get ECG and SpO2 and an always on display – none of which are available on the Apple Watch SE.

Fitbit Charge 4

Another AAA deal on Amazon – the Fitbit Charge 4 is temporarily down to $99.95 (down from $149.99), essentially making it the same price as the Inspire HR 2.

The bigger screen gives you better feedback, and there’s GPS on-board, as well as an SpO2 sensor and Fitbit’s latest Active Zone Minutes metric.

AirPods Pro

If you’re looking for a new set of headphones this Holiday season, the AirPods Pro are about as good as you’ll get. Superb sound, activity noise cancellation, small design, great customizable fit and a dainty case make for a winning combo. So Amazon’s $50 price cut to $199 is tempting. Other retailers have followed suit, but Apple Store is at $249 making this a genuine deal.

When is Black Friday 2020?

Black Friday 2020 this year falls on 27 November. It is guaranteed to bring discounts on smartwatches from every brand, including Apple, Samsung, Fossil, Fitbit and Garmin.

We’ll be keeping this page updated during the entirety of Black Friday 2020 with good quality deals, and we’ll have dedicated pages for those keen on particular key brands.

But Black Friday has blown up beyond just a single day. And as such there are deals running now, all the way through to Cyber Monday 2020 on Monday 30 November.

Where will I find Black Friday smartwatch deals?

Pretty much all of the big retailers are going to get involved for Black Friday 2020. Amazon will certainly be up there both sides of the pond.

In the US, Walmart, Best Buy and Target always drop lots of electronics deals, including plenty on smartwatches and fitness trackers.

The UK will see Argos, John Lewis and Currys PC World being good places to consider, alongside other retailers like Very.

One advantage Amazon might have over other retailers is if you’re an Amazon Prime member. That expedited delivery is great news for anyone particularly impatient.

The good news is that if you’re not already a member, you can take out a tactical 30-day free trial to see you through the Black Friday sales. You can cancel at any time before the 30 days are up but Amazon is hoping you’ll get hooked on all of the perks alongside faster delivery.

Expect retailers to publish their Black Friday ads as early as the beginning of November. Walmart, Best Buy and Target are in particular famous for showcasing some of their best deals well ahead. That’s handy if you want to prepare yourself for the discounts.

What Black Friday smartwatch deals should I avoid?

The one thing to keep in mind is that you should stick to reputable retailers. There’s a big temptation to look at grey importers shipping out of Hong Kong and China, as these can have some seriously low prices.

The problem with grey imports is that the warranty might not be valid for the territory where it’s been imported, so you might run into problems down the line.

You also might run into other issues like not getting the same accessories, such as chargers, that you would when buying a local version.

You can also face long delivery times and possibly customs charges once the package arrives at its destination, adding in hidden charges.

If you’re ever in doubt, it’s probably a good idea to purchase on a credit card if it has any kind of purchase protection. That way your credit card provider can step in for any disputes.

How will I know I’m getting a good deal for Black Friday?

First off, we’re only going to be highlighting the deals you should be aware of here on Wareable. Because we’re always keeping an eye on prices, we can spot a genuine discount from a dud.

Some other media outlets aren’t as clued up as us on the latest wearables – so we know the difference between old obsolete devices that are being flogged off, and genuine bargains. No-one wants Black Friday buyers remorse.

During Black Friday, retailers can give false or misleading discounts. That’s because they might quote the original RRP when showing the discount, making it look much bigger than it is.

Beyond constantly monitoring prices, there are tools to help you look at the historical price of a product. That way you can know if the discount is genuine.

A great browser extension is Keepa, which embeds a price history graph onto Amazon pages so you can instantly see previous prices. When you’re being swamped with Amazon Black Friday deals, it’ll save you loads of time.

The other thing to keep in mind is making sure you buy something worthwhile. Black Friday is a chance for retailers to clear out stock of products that aren’t selling very well, perhaps because they’re just not very good.

There’s no point making a big saving on a cheap smartwatch if it turns out to be terrible. So with that in mind, be sure to check out our reviews and guides first to make sure your smartwatch or fitness tracker does precisely what you need it to do.

Also consider what you need from your wearable. If you’re only after basic activity tracking, an inexpensive fitness tracker might do the trick rather than dropping big cash on a smartwatch.

A good place to start is our list of the best smartwatches and the best fitness trackers. Pick up any of these with a big Black Friday saving and you’ll be onto a winner.
